Alumni Questions & Answers

  • How can I become an MSU Alumni Association member?

The MSU Alumni Association is moving to a non-dues membership program which will go into effect on July 1, 2016. In preparation for the change, the association is no longer selling memberships. All graduates of MSU are members of the Alumni Association. Alumni who donate $100 or more annually will be given access to special benefits and be recognized as Spartan Loyal. Learn more.

  • What benefits are given to alumni who are Spartan Loyal?

When the membership transition goes into effect on July 1, 2106, two levels of services and recognition will be provided to alumni. Those who are designated Spartan Loyal will have access to a digital card to access these services. Legacy life members of the MSU Alumni Association will receive the same benefits as those designated Spartan Loyal, regardless of whether or not they choose to make additional financial contributions to the university, and will be sent a new Spartan Loyal card to access services.

  • How often do I need to make the $100 cumulative donation to remain Spartan Loyal?

An annual cumulative contribution of $100 must be made to the college(s) or program(s) of your choice to keep your Spartan Loyal designation. Gifts are counted each July 1 through the following June 30, with the Spartan Loyal designation recognized for the following 12 months.

  • How can I stay connected to MSU even though I am no longer near campus?

The MSU Alumni Association helps you stay connected to the university in a meaningful way throughout your life. There are many ways that you can stay involved:

  • How can I learn more about MSU Alumni Association travel and tours?

Each year the MSU Alumni Association offers dozens of tours to premium destinations throughout the world. For more information join our mailing list or request brochures for specific tours.

  • How can I learn more about the SPARTANS WILL. POWER Global Day of Service?

The annual Global Day of Service is in April of each year. Project and volunteer registration is open several months in advance of the day. If you’d like to participate and don’t see a project in your area, let us know and we’ll tell you if one is developed.

  • Does Sparty attend private events? How do I request Sparty?

Yes, Sparty is a very busy guy who attends nearly 500 events per year including weddings, community events, birthday parties, bar mitzvahs and nearly everything else you can imagine. Because of his university commitments, he is unable to attend private functions on the days of home or away football games. If you’d like him to attend your event, make your request as early as possible. Due to his academic and university commitments, Sparty is unable to confirm his appearances any earlier than one month prior to the event.

  • Does the MSU Alumni Association have any involvement with athletic tickets?

No, the MSU Alumni Association is not involved with athletic tickets. We do not have tickets available for alumni and cannot provide discounts on tickets. Please visit the Spartan Ticket Office website for information on tickets.

  • How can I promote MSU in my classroom?

We offer a school kit that includes promotional items and educational information on the university. Due to the volume of these requests we receive, a donation of $20 is necessary to ensure the quality of your spirit kit and to cover shipping costs.
