The MSU College of Law is seeking a creative, energetic, self-starter to join the MSU College of Law Advancement team as the Assistant Director for Leadership Annual Giving.  The successful candidate will develop, coordinate and implement fundraising activities and programs designed to leverage leadership annual gifts in the range of $1,000-$20,000 from college alumni and friends.  S/he will be responsible for identifying potential donors, designing marketing materials, recruiting and organizing volunteers, and soliciting financial gifts that broaden the base of support for the College.  S/he will also work closely with MSU’s annual giving and telemarketing team to manage the current effort, including providing stewardship and making recommendations for coordinated efforts as appropriate.

We are seeking a motivated individual who possesses strong communication and organizational skills and has the experience and drive to strengthen alumni affinity toward the College while creating long-lasting relationships, and who has the ability to significantly elevate the number of individuals who provide unrestricted support to the College.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and/or Business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional fund raising, public relations, marketing, higher education fund raising or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and/or Business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional fund raising, public relations, marketing, higher education fund raising or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; superior communications skills, including writing and presentation skills, as well as ability to present before a group; strong computer software program skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.  Previous experience in annual fund work and/or familiarity with a higher education institution; experience with the legal profession is a plus.

Additional Requirements

  1. May require valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position. 

  2. This position requires, or will require prior to the completion of the probationary period: knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.
