Description
The Data Quality Analyst is a valued member of the AIS-DS Gift and Record Management team. This team is responsible for recording and maintaining alumni, donor and stakeholder biographical information; researching and updating constituent data and training on data maintenance and governance requirements; inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making.
He/she will be responsible for having intimate knowledge of the business rules for how University Advancement manages giving and donor records. Additionally, he/she are responsible for working with UA and IT stakeholders to understand business goals and requirements in order to quickly deploy reports and analytics in Cognos that enable better decision making. He/she will be responsible for translating/developing reports based on in-depth understanding of the data quality of the database.
Qualifications
Required
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, Statistics or Mathematics with relevant course work in computer programming.
1 - 3 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in programming, data base management or data collection or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or Statistics
3– 5 years of previous online researching, trend analysis, analytics and synthesizing of large data sets or related experience. Including knowledge of wealth indicators, donor motivations for giving, and online and other information resources
3 - 5 years’ work experience with large data sets in an environment with large, complex databases.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience with IBM Cognos Workspace Advance, SQL or other query languages
Experience with Informatica Data Analyst or other data quality tools
Ability to manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks in a professional manner with attention to accuracy and detail
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and through e-mail to positively and professionally respond and resolve any concerns or issues with other University Advancement Staff
Willingness to learn new skills or technologies
Ability to evaluate potential changes in process or procedure and embrace changes which emerge as applicable
Effective communicator and collaborator working in a cross-functional environment
Strong project and time management skills with attention to details.
Ability to lead and influence non-hierarchical, cross-functional work groups to drive to consensus on definitions and data usage
Strong knowledge of best practices in data management
Experience around defining and managing data related processes
Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The ability to analyze and synthesize information, to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Experience with a large research institution or billion dollar-plus campaigns is preferred.
