Description

A valued member of the University Advancement Business Analytics, Data and Training Services Team, the role of the Business Analyst is to provide strategic and actionable insights in support of the Fundraising and Alumni Relations efforts at Michigan State University.  The Business Analyst will support the strategic objectives of University Advancement by analyzing and interpreting financial and engagement statistics, conducting robust campaign performance analytics, market and customer trend studies, web analytics, and behavior analysis.

Qualifications

This job requires; knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the areas of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

DESIRED

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science mathematics, statistics, or bachelor’s degree in another discipline with equivalent and translatable experience; 1-3 years of experience analyzing and synthesizing complex data sets and producing highly readable, informative reports with visualizations; demonstrated experience with a variety of analytical and presentation end-user software, such as Cognos, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Adobe; experience working with complex, relational databases; highly skilled with SPSS Modeler or Statistics; 1-3 years of work experience in SQL programming, analysis and development utilizing Oracle or MS-SQL Server or an equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent project management skills; highly developed interpersonal skills; results driven with experience working in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment; understanding of development and alumni relations issues and market trends; familiarity with Ellucian Advance alumni donor relational database; experience with R, Tableau or comparable statistical tools; must be able to organize and manage projects independently.
