Description

The MSU Libraries, together with the Office of University Advancement, is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, enthusiastic, creative and results-oriented fundraiser to join its Advancement team.  This team member will assist with the planning and implementing of a comprehensive fund raising program for the MSU Libraries.  This person will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward supporters of the MSU Libraries.  In addition, they will assist with periodic special purpose appeals and programs with business, industry and interested foundations.  The successful candidate will focus efforts on face to face contact with prospects with the intent of obtaining support for the MSU Libraries.  In addition, they will assist the team in developing the annual gift program manage sponsorships and other fund-raising activities.  This position reports to the Director of Development for the MSU Libraries. 

Qualifications

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in communications, public relations, marketing, business, liberal arts or related field; one to three years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education development, not-for-profit development, outside sales, public relations, libraries, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to travel in-state and some out-of-state; ability to work some evenings and weekends; valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s degree; eExcellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and intellectual curiosity; collaborative team-oriented style; ability to work with a variety of personality types; excellent interpersonal skills; working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving; experience with prospect management processes or related strategic relationship development; understanding of and appreciation for the importance of Libraries in the community and academic environment.
